MGS Assists Rebecca School with Mount Vernon Location
White Plains NY –April 2024 – McCullough, Goldberger & Staudt, LLP (MGS) has successfully represented a unique school for children with special needs and helped them to expand into Westchester.
Rebecca School North, a 57,000-square-foot campus at 1 Bradford Road in Mount Vernon, is set to open in September thanks in part to the assistance of MGS. The school serves children ages 3 to 21 with neurodevelopmental delays.
The White Plains law firm’s Land Use Department helped the school to scout possible locations in Westchester to expand its New York City campus to serve more children with autism. MGS’ Real Estate Department also helped them to negotiate the lease for the school to utilize the existing building.
“Our work with the Rebecca School showcases what our firm does best,’’ said Managing Partner Seth Mandelbaum. “This new school will help repurpose a vacant office building that will now become a vital part of the Mount Vernon community.’’
Mandelbaum said that MGS worked for months doing zoning analyses of more than 20 possible locations for the school to assist the school’s team in finding the right fit.
MGS Partner Linda Whitehead added that once the right location was found, MGS worked with the office building’s owners and the school to negotiate a long-term lease for the property.
“We were pleased to work on behalf of our client to negotiate a lease which incorporates a complete interior renovation of the building to be undertaken by the landlord to accommodate the use by the Rebecca School,’’ said Whitehead.
The school plans to serve families in Westchester, upper Manhattan and the Bronx.
